DC Teaching Artists of the Mid-Atlantic (TAMA) Meet-Up!

September 20, 2021 @ 4:00 pm - 5:00 pm

Free

Greeting District of Columbia Teaching Artists,

My name is Devin Walker, a.k.a. “Uncle Devin, the Children’s Drumcussionist,” with The Uncle Devin Show.  I am a Teaching Artist (TA) who lives in Ward 4 and I am serving as the Director of the DC Chapter of the Teaching Artists of the Mid-Atlantic (TAMA).  I am also the owner of WEE Nation Radio, a 24/7 online children’s music radio station that provides the best in family-friendly global beats for little feet.

In my experience as a TA in DC, it is very important for Teaching Artists who live in the District of Columbia to come together and stand united to ensure that our voices are heard and that we are being paid our true worth!

Join me for a TA meetup on Monday, September 20th: 4 PM ET.  RSVP below to get access to the zoom link, and share this event with other District of Columbia Teaching Artists!

Let’s talk about:

  • The state of the industry in DC.
  • Going from dependence to independence as TA’s.
  • Teaching Artist Bill of Rights.

Let me know if you have any questions or have other topics you would like to discuss.  I look forward to hearing from you.

Devin

Know of an event we should include?

Thanks for completing your profile!

One of the challenges of our profession is that there is very little data about who we are, what we do and where we are working. Without a documentable presence, it’s difficult to advocate for funding and policies that benefit our work. Your profile will both help promote your work individually and it will help us aggregate data for our region. As you fill in the blanks below, you will have a choice as to who is allowed to see some of the information. Please note that the “Just Me” option does allow TAMA administration to see what you’ve entered. For example, when you enter your phone number, you can prevent that from appearing in your profile if you like, but TAMA administration can see it.
