As we step into the bright New Year, we extend our warm greetings to individuals and organizations who have supported teaching artistry careers. We hope the year ahead will bring us all more joy, greater success, and opportunities for rest and happiness. Teaching Artists continue to struggle in the arts ecosystem, but our community is confident the sun is rising for our industry.
In 2023, TAMA published a set of eight principles that offer equitable solutions to address the problems that Teaching Artists face. These principles have been instrumental in helping Teaching Artists, communities, and sectors move beyond traditional practices and create a better future for all. It is time for us to build on the foundation of that success, profoundly changing the field.
This year, TAMA is excited to announce a Network for Arts Administrators is launching. We know many administrators were artists and even Teaching Artists before becoming administrators. We highly value the administrator’s perspective and aim to connect individuals who share our passion for teaching artistry to our movement. By working together, we will advance solidarity and justice in the field.
Join us and be a part of a community committed to driving positive change in the arts sector.
If you want to learn more about this network, email TAMA’s President to schedule a 15-minute meeting. Please complete our interest form if you’re ready to join the group.
Finally, we encourage you to share this letter about TAMA with Teaching Artists on your rosters and mailing lists.
We welcome your ideas and look forward to growing together!
As professionals, we face the challenge of limited data about who we are, what we do and where we work, which makes it hard to advocate for and secure funding and policies that benefit us. But worry not! Your profile can help promote your work and provide data for our region. When filling out your profile, you can control who sees the content in every field. Visibility options include: everyone, only me, all members, and my friends. Just a heads up, the “Only Me” option includes TAMA administration so we can collect the data for the field.
