The Teaching Artists of New Jersey is a group page for members of Teaching Artists of the Mid-Atlantic (TAMA). TAMA represents different art forms, and this page serves as a callboard for the state of New Jersey.  Here we: (1) Connect and build a statewide network and community of Teaching Artists, (2) Advocate collectively for local and statewide initiatives that impact us, and (3) Share resources and opportunities like training/professional development, grants and jobs available across NJ. This group is collectively moderated by our community of members who have all agreed to the group’s rules.  To effectively share and retain the content of our online conversations each post should have a topic/category added. This helps all members to filter and locate previously discussed content in the future.

    • On Being A Teaching Artist
This is a general forum for all members of Teaching Artists of the Mid-Atlantic to network, support and empower each other in their teaching artist practice and career.  Topics include art forms, participants identities, and different aspects of the profession.  Check out the current topics, and suggest new topics to @jenniferridgway. Explore the current topics, and submit a post under the appropriate topic.  We suggest that you identify tags when you post to help organize and filter conversations in the future. To make announcements about job, grant and professional development opportunities, we invite you to post to the Community Bulletin Board.  Suggest to the individuals and entities that support, hire and advocate for teaching artists to submit opportunities to the Bulletin Board!   A searchable system that helps our community stay up to date with what is happening from the local to the regional to the national and international! Your feedback and suggestions help us all.  How can our community utilize the forum in our sharing the joys and challenges of our current projects, and discussing & reflecting on the business of our profession.

Thanks for completing your profile!

One of the challenges of our profession is that there is very little data about who we are, what we do and where we are working. Without a documentable presence, it’s difficult to advocate for funding and policies that benefit our work. Your profile will both help promote your work individually and it will help us aggregate data for our region. As you fill in the blanks below, you will have a choice as to who is allowed to see some of the information. Please note that the “Just Me” option does allow TAMA administration to see what you’ve entered. For example, when you enter your phone number, you can prevent that from appearing in your profile if you like, but TAMA administration can see it.
